Wyndham Hotels and Resorts is now seeking a Purchasing Officer to join our team at Wyndham Doha West Bay in Doha, Qatar.

Job Summary

The role holder will contribute to the performance of the hotel by facilitating and assisting Purchasing Manager to purchase all hotel merchandise according to Wyndham standards, policy and procedures. Maintains the highest standard of quality in the hotel. Maintain proper filing system for Purchasing Manager. Handles correspondence for Purchasing Office.

Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
  • Progressive experience in a hotel or college related courses preferred.
  • Ability to understand and utilize basic computer equipment and applications, to include word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Physical Requirements
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
General Requirements
  • Maintaining a Log book to track and log in Purchasing Request details before forwarding   to Director of Finance and General Manager for approval.
  • Processing local Purchase Orders for all approved Purchase Requests
  • (General Items). Logging in details of all purchase orders in the Purchase Order Registers. Keep Purchasing Manager informed of quality, prices and new market trends, (Local & overseas).
  • Purchases from local market daily and fresh good according to purchase requisition or by Purchasing Manager.
  • Update market quotation list.
  • Must obtain 3 quotations from suppliers as per purchasing policy.
  • Responsible for Petty Cash float in Purchasing Manager’s absence.
  • Liaise with Storekeeper to prevent re-ordering.
  • To prepare market survey on monthly basis and issue report.
  • Obtain tenders according to locally set policy, properly documented and maintain record.
Fundamental Requirements
  • Ensuring that all Purchase Order copies (blue) are filed in the Master File –alphabetical order and serial number file.
  • Filing all processed Purchase Requests, department wise and date wise.
  • Responsible for filing all incoming and outgoing correspondence and faxes pertaining to Purchasing operations and suppliers.
  • Maintaining separate filing system for all overseas Purchase Orders.
  • Whenever required, sending inquiries/requesting for quotations (general items) overseas or local, based on incoming Purchase requests from different department within the hotel.
  • Tracking and updating the overseas order list for general items.
  • Following up on LPO status with the Suppliers, whenever requested.
  • Checking maintaining stationery stock and ordering office supplies whenever required.
  • Attending other administrative work, preparing fortnightly time report, personnel notifications, collecting supplies from General Stores, issuing memo as and when  instructed by the Purchasing manager etc.  Job also includes execution of other secretarial duties when called upon to do so.
  • Any other reasonable duties as directed by the Director of Finance/Chief Accountant
