Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking an Engineering Supervisor to join our team at the Ramada Encore Muscat location in Oman.

Job Summary

The Engineering Supervisor will contribute to the performance of the hotel by assisting the Chief Engineer in managing the day to day operation of the department by providing necessary support, coordination and feedback at all times. He / She will execute maintenance related works and supervises the Engineering associates, provide quality service and guest satisfaction and safety.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Main duties
  • Responsible for overall day to day operation
  • Inspects that working condition of the engineering systems and ensure that all standards are maintained
  • Conducts routine inspection of the property and completing the check lists.
  • Flags any major problem/emergency such as emergencies, accidents and so on to the Chief Engineer.
  • Contributes to the hotel profitability, by ensuring the serviceability of the Engineering Department.
  • Participates and actively involves in energy conservation programs and cost effective maintenance works
  • Assists the Chief Engineer in educating and training all Engineering associates in work safety standards, engineering standards, and provides technical information as required.
  • Promotes teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with team.
Other Duties
  • Monitors and ensures that guest complaints are attended as per standard time to make sure the guests are satisfied
  • Supervises preventive maintenance and repairs conducted in the property.
  • Knowledgeable on hotel facilities and services to assist guests as appropriate.
  • In conjunction with the Chief of Engineer, prepares and maintains schedules, logs, records and other documentation to ensure a smooth operations and minimize liabilities.
  • Prioritizes engineering service requests to ensure guest convenience and satisfaction.
  • Ensures that engineering and work areas are in order and clean condition.
  • Regularly examines, tests and maintains life safety systems to protect guests, employees and assets.
  • Monitors and controls the department expenses
  • Keeps a professional and positive attitude and actions when communicating with guests and associates at all time.
  • Reports any incident of guest dissatisfactions or unusual matters of significance to management so that corrective measures may be taken
Leadership
  • Assists the Chief Engineer for People leadership of direct reports in your team (recruitment and selection, performance management (Appraisal/PDP), associate development and motivation, counselling / disciplinary issues.
  • Conduct regular coaching sessions/1:1s with direct reports
Human Resources
  • Assists the Chief Engineer to ensure that the administration of the probation review process in the Engineering department and ensure that follow-up for all issues is done in timely manner and results of both follow-up and the initial reviews are communicated to all relevant parties
  • Ensure 100% compliance with all mandatory training for your department;
  • Assists the Chief Engineer to control the LTO, Absence in your department in conjunction with the HR Leader on property to ensure that any areas of concern.
  • Conduct interviews with the assistance of the Chief Engineer for relevant roles in conjunction with HR
  • Ensure that you dine in the team member restaurant at least three times a week and provide HR Leader on property feedback
  • Support WeCom with quarterly People, Community and Sustainability engagement events
Communication
  • To conduct or chair regular communication meetings with your team and actively participate in relevant business meetings to facilitate effective communication.
  • Conducted documented 121’s with all direct reports
  • Share all relevant information with Assistant director of Engineering & Director of Engineering in 121’s
Finance
  • Plan and track departmental holidays and lieu days as per the needs of the business
EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION & EDUCATION
  • A minimum of two years in a similar position in a branded hotel
  • Diploma in engineering field
  • Any certificate in safety systems
