Laundry Supervisor - Ramada Encore Muscat

Ramada Encore Muscat is now seeking a Laundry Supervisor to join our team in Muscat, Oman.

Job Summary

The role holder will contribute to the performance of the hotel; is responsible for running laundry department’s day to day operations and also to deliver an excellent Guest experience while managing stock ordering and supplier relationships. Make inspection trips through entire area, checking on production method and procedures. Checks washing formulas, making corrections and improvements when required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Main Duties
  • Ensures all customers are provided with prompt, courteous and accurate service as per international standard in order to achieve a high level of guest satisfaction.
  • Plans and reviews the organization of work within the department including assignments, time schedules and vacations.
  • Keeps abreast of new technological developments in the laundry industry, latest trends in textiles and chemicals for textile care industry to recommend ways of upgrading the hotel laundry services.
  • Establishes, modifies and ensures adherence to systems and procedures for key activities in the department that enhance customer (external & internal) satisfaction.
  • Prepares capital, and operational budgets of the department in consultation with EHK.
  • Evaluates quality of textile samples for linen, uniforms and upholstery and makes recommendations on their quality.
  • Ensures and assists Engineering in PMP to achieve the lowest downtime of equipment.
  • Monitors key performance indicators for the department and takes corrective action.
Other Duties
  • Takes full responsibility of hygiene, cleanliness and maintenance of machines and work premises to ensure safety and higher productivity.
  • Ensures effective utilization of all the resources under his/ her control to achieve high productivity and profitability.
  • Responsible for compliance to all statuary requirements of the laundry.
  • Controls & analysis on ongoing basis, departmental labor & material costs.
  • Assist purchasing and housekeeping in analysis & selection of new linen & uniform
  • Report any hazards and follows up to ensure action is taken to comply with hotel standards in relation personal presentation.
  • Keeps aware of trends, new methods, chemicals, textiles & equipments in the industry through trade magazines and by visiting other laundry & dry cleaning plants.
  • Perform related duties & special projects assigned.
Human Resources
  • Ensure that your department is fully compliant with Wyndham people processes and deadlines that govern all Wyndham properties. E.g. AES, Success Matters, Probation reviews etc.
  • Ensure that you dine in the Team Member restaurant at least three times a week and provide HR Leader on property feedback
  • Conduct interviews for relevant roles in conjunction with HR
  • Support WeCom with quarterly People, Community and Sustainability engagement events
COMMUNICATION
  • To conduct or chair regular communication meetings with team(s) and actively participate in relevant business meetings to facilitate effective communication.
  • Conducted documented 121’s with all direct reports
  • Share all relevant information with Line Manager in 121’s
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Outlook – email communication
  • Knowledge in documentation & Filing process
  • Knowledge and Skills in various wash care methods types of clothing, Linen and upholstery materials used in the hotel.
  • Basic written and spoken English communication
  • Knowledge in operation of uniform rails.

EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION & EDUCATION
  • Education High school or equivalent education required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred. 
  • Two to three years of experience managing entry-level employees.
  • Minimum two years housekeeping/laundry management experience in hotel industry.
