The Role
This role will be part of Global Shared Services based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The GSS Accounting Operations Sr. Analyst will:
- Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial records by preparing and reviewing journal entries, performing key reconciliations, and supporting period‑end close activities.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by managing intercompany transactions, subledger reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, and payroll‑related entries.
- Support audits, internal controls, and management inquiries by maintaining audit‑ready documentation and analyzing variances.
- Contribute to process improvements and standardization initiatives that enhance efficiency, control, and reliability within Accounting Operations.
What you'll do
- Prepare and review routine and moderately complex journal entries in accordance with accounting policies, close schedules, and required supporting documentation.
- Perform intercompany accounting activities, including preparing intercompany entries, supporting eliminations, reconciling balances, and investigating variances.
- Execute and support corporate and overhead allocations by validating allocation inputs, posting entries, and reconciling allocated balances.
- Prepare and maintain fixed asset accounting activities, including asset setup review, capitalization review, depreciation calculations, transfers, retirements, and disposals in line with policy.
- Perform subledger reconciliations (AP, AR, Payroll, Fixed Assets, etc.), analyze discrepancies, and drive timely resolution of identified variances.
- Support month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes, including preparing adjustments, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and close documentation.
- Prepare and validate payroll accounting entries, including payroll journals, reconciliations, accruals, and timing adjustments.
- Provide support for audits, internal controls, and management inquiries.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and audit‑ready documentation for accounting activities, reconciliations, and supporting analyses.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for process standardization, efficiency gains, and best‑practice implementation within Accounting Operations.
You'll be successful if you have
- Knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS accounting principles and end-to-end Record to Report processes.
- Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, allocations, payroll accounting, and close activities.
- Expertise in fixed asset accounting including capitalization, depreciation, impairments, and disposals.
- Ability to analyze complex variances, identify root causes, and propose corrective actions.
- Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) in multi-entity environments.
- Understanding of accounting controls, audit requirements, and documentation standards.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and manage critical period-end activities.
- Knowledge of Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with regional and global stakeholders.
- Fluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to support cross-regional operations.
Required Qualifications/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4-6 years of experience in Accounting, R2R, or Shared Services operations.
- Strong experience preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, payroll accounting, and close processes.
- Strong experience with fixed asset accounting.
- Experience in multi-entity and/or shared services environments is preferred.
- Prior experience supporting audits and internal controls is preferred.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
