Job Summary

The Analyst, Monitoring & Performance is a skilled engineer responsible for debugging, measuring through creation of alerts, analyzing, and improving our WHR applications. They are generalists with deep technical understanding of software, hardware, networking, and the Internet, who take a holistic view of complex systems. Application Performance is achieved by working closely with our architect and engineering teams throughout the release cycle. This position is responsible for ensuring all applications are appropriately instrumented with alerts and to ensure monitoring of applications is available at all times. 

Essential Job Functions
• Identify areas of improvements and concerns in operational support areas and provide appropriate action plans.
• Develop and implement performance metrics to improve business operational efficiency.
• Analyze root causes of business problems and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain documentations for problem identification, definition and solving procedures.
• Provide optimal business solutions to achieve operational and financial goals.
• Review and recommend improvements to existing business programs.
• Suggest new techniques and technologies to meet or exceed business goals.
• Identify alert gaps and provide appropriate remediation for application moniroting and performance.
• Provide support to IT teams whenever required.
• Monitor business performances regularly and generate performance reports to management.
• Develop, update and enforce business policies and procedures.

Travel Requirements
Travel requirements for this role will vary based on the business needs and programs lifecycle, estimated to average 5% - 10% of the time; travel possibility within the U.S.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant engineering field.
• 5 years of experience working as performance engineer supporting mission critical IT infrastructure products.
• 3 yrs. experience with Performance, Load, Stress, and Scalability Testing
• 3 yrs. experience with SOAPUI, Wats, Jmeter, JProfiler, Jconsole, and system tools vmstat/top
• 3 yrs. Web Application Development and Web Services development experience (SOAP)
• 1 year experience with AWS cloud watch, Log Groups and profiling of EC2.
• Proficiency with technologies such as SSD, HDD, SAS, NAS, HA, virtualization, networking, VMWare and Linux.
• Proficiency with MW technologies (i.e.,TIBCO and Weblogic)
• Object-oriented development skills including language skills in two or more of Java, C#, .Net
• Ability to clearly characterize system performance to stakeholders
• Capacity estimating, modeling, or planning
• Ability to distill volumes of data, analyze performance results, and diagnose performance problems
• Application and architecture code profiling
• Infrastructure and application performance tuning
• Define measures and report performance against stated performance goals
• Investigate, create and implement tools to enable performance measurements in a continuous integration environment
• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
• Proficiency with coding and scripting in a Linux environment.
• Proven ability to understand complex software design/ developing testing approaches for them.
• Knowledge of CDNs such as Akamai
• Adopt App Dynamics for usage in Cloud IaaS and PaaS models.
• Test and implement App Dynamics Monitoring Extensions appropriate for Client’s technology stack (e.g. Web servers; Messaging Tiers).
• Test and implement AppDynamics Database Agent.
• Test and implement AppDynamics End User Experience Monitoring.
• Development of dashboards, SLA Reports and custom end-user reports.
• Experience writing shell, perl, VBS scripts
• Experience with SSL certs, encryption methods on Linux
• Experience in developing and implementing systems monitoring and alerting strategies in diverse, large-scale environments
• Experience developing and documenting processes, procedures, and policies for tool usage and integration
• Knowledge and experience with configuring alerts, dashboards and ad-hoc reports
• Strong understanding of service level management (SLAs, SLRs, etc.)
• Experience with data management tools and databases (e.g., DB2, SQL -familiarity desired)
• Experience in systems and Java applications performance tuning and optimization
• Strong knowledge of AWS S3, Lambda, Kinesis, API Gateway & Custom Namespace.

Knowledge and skills:
• Good technical writing skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and team player attitude
• Experience in developing alerts and monitoring applications for Hospitality Industry preferred.
