The Role

Provide second level monitoring, analysis, and incident response to information security alerts events as part of Wyndham Cybersecurity Operations. Analyze network traffic and multiple log sources to assess, prioritize and differentiate between potential intrusion attempts and false alarms. Compose and send alert notifications. Recommend filters and threshold settings on various security devices and applications to eliminate false positives. Provide level one application support to all Cybersecurity application and devices under the Cybersecurity Operations Center’s purview of management.

What you'll do

  • Analyze, investigate, respond, and recover from cybersecurity incidents, events and threats following the incident response lifecycle with escalation where required. 
  • Remediate vulnerabilities applicable to cyber security managed systems as well as guide other teams in their system requirements. 
  • Configuration and enhancement of data loss prevention, email security, endpoint detection, logging and monitoring and other cyber security solutions to meet governance and security policies.
  • Evaluate and assess different security technologies that aligns with the cybersecurity requirements. 
  • Create and maintain cyber security documentations, including designing playbooks to address incidents and events. 
  • Collaborate with team members in cross training of all security tools in use by the cyber security operations.
  • Assist in establishing and enforcing governance for company tools so that information is secure, and policies are followed.
  • Daily ownership and management of security events; including log management, log analysis, event management and alarms.
  • Participate in on-call rotation with other cyber security operations engineers.
  • Project management of internal projects that relate to and not limited to upgrades, migrations, and enhancements of security services.
  • Maintain and employ a strong understanding of advanced persistent threats, continuous vulnerability assessment, response and mitigation strategies used in Cybersecurity operations.
  • Monitor third-party service providers for compliance with information security policies and procedures
  • Staying current with cybersecurity landscape via conferences, training, and events to enhance security requirements where applicable.
  • Collect, report, and enhance metrics of cyber security systems
  • Provide feedback / influence in internal or vendor provided products and service offering.

You'll be successful if you have

  • Ability to think critically and problem solve.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Skilled at communicating results quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to discuss complex technical issues with non-technical people and executive management.
  • Familiar with incident response technique.
  • Experience with Python, Perl, Bash, PowerShell a plus.
  • Ability to work independently on own projects and within a team.

Required Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in cyber security or related field or equivalent 2-3 years in cyber security operation field and including governance, risk, and compliance. 
  • Demonstrated and proven experience in Security Incident Event Management, Intrusion Prevention/Detection Systems, Firewalls, Content Filtering Technology, Data Loss Prevention, Configuration Management and Monitoring, End-Point Protection, Database Security and Log Collection and Analysis.
  • Strong working knowledge of security-relevant data, including network protocols, ports and common services, such as TCP/IP network protocols and application layer protocols (e.g. HTTP/S, DNS, FTP, SMTP, Active Directory etc.)
