Job Summary

The Director, Distribution Partners Management is a creative, solution-driven, relationship focused, and business oriented forward-thinking leader who will implement and drive the Distribution Partners Management strategy for WHR. 


The Director has experienced in account development & management specifically as it relates to the Hotel/Travel industry and the leisure segment, including but not limited to the Travel Agency Market audience served via the Global Distribution Systems (GDS), Wholesalers, Bedbanks, Tour Operators, Online Travel Agencies (OTA), and others.  She/He is a creative problem-solving thinker, has a passion for execution, innovation, and optimization. The Director, Distribution Partner Management will be required to work and align cross-functionally, oversee the work of several projects and partners, serve as the distribution partner management subject matter expert, and lead on multiple distribution initiatives.


She/He will direct the development and initiatives related to optimizing the business opportunity through all indirect distribution channels on behalf of our franchisees aligned with our overall distribution strategy and company initiatives, as well as, the revenue generated via these partnerships.  The Director, Distribution Partner Management reports to the Group Vice President of Distribution & Connectivity and is a highly collaborative role that will interface with leaders of cross-functional areas within in the company 

Education & Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in Account Development & Management
  • 15+ years in Distribution Partners negotiations and managing complex projects with multi-unit/cross-functional oversight
  • Ability to think creatively on distribution strategy, innovating on conventional processes and practices
  • Strong execution focus, and a hands-on leader who gets things done
  • Eight (8+) years of professional work experience in hotel distribution.
  • Expert knowledge of hotel distribution channel space, opportunities, and commercial processes, including all OTA's, GDS, Consortia etc.
  • A reliable network in the hotel distribution ecosystem, that can be leveraged to set us up for success.
  • A deep understanding of how these channels work (from rankings, to listing optimization, to what images to showcase, to the implications of price parity etc).
  • A concise and differentiated philosophy on hotel distribution (i.e be a thought leader in the space).
  • Knowledge of sales & revenue management is a plus.
  • A deep understanding of scalability, and how to set up scalable systems to manage hotel distribution.
  • Experience dealing with external and internal stakeholders with varied objectives/outcomes.
  • Creative thinker who is not satisfied with the "status quo".
  • Extreme attention to detail and strong project management skills, able to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented, strong grammar and writing skills with both internal and external stakeholders.


  • Maintain and develop strong partnerships with assigned account(s), handle all aspects of partner interactions
  • Drive new and manage existing commercial negotiations with Distribution Partners
  • Develop and oversee the successful launch of any new initiatives, including the creation of playbooks for strategic partners and/or programs outlining clear definition of target market(s), region(s), hotels and the respective KPIs 
  • Liaise with internal Stakeholders, including but not limited to the Senior Leadership, Communications, Connectivity, Revenue Management, Global Sales teams respectively on account updates, commercial challenges, opportunities, etc.
  • Develop and provides training and educational sessions on distribution as it relates to account specific strategies, best practices and industry trends, to hotel facing teams and hotels as needed
  • Ensure growth and optimization of account(s)
  • Develop detailed account plans, establishes KPIs and measures success against those KPIs
  • Maintain a test and learn approach to account performance
  • Take the lead on all Distribution Partner issues (payment, rate parity, contract breaches, etc.)
  • Keep abreast of opportunities to grow business and leverages these opportunities as needed
  • Represent WHR at events and conferences throughout the year
  • Lead strategic Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR) with assigned accounts
  • Actively seeks and leverages Distribution Partners marketing opportunities to increase visibility of WHR hotels where desirable
  • Fully understand the opportunity (or risk) each account represents
  • Provide pro-active recommendations for emerging industry trends and disruption
  • Generate and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc.
  • Serve as a key source of strategic guidance to various internal groups by providing relevant marketplace and distribution updates
