Director of Strategic Sourcing

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking a Director of Strategic Sourcing to join our team. This key position can be based in any location in the United States with the ability to easily travel via plane or in our Parsippany, NJ Headquarters.

Job Summary

The Director, Strategic Sourcing Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E), is responsible for the execution of FF&E strategic sourcing activities that support Wyndham Hotels & Resorts brand development. The Director will be responsible for vendor relationship management, contract administration, problem resolution, in addition to business plan development, conducting competitive price analysis and negotiations, and strategically planning vendor partnerships. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting external franchisees as well as internal stakeholders in all facets related to FF&E, and therefore the Director is responsible for guiding the team to build and maintain strong partnerships with internal Wyndham stakeholders, hotel Owners and Operators, as well as with suppliers.

Education & Experience

  • BA or BS
  • Minimum 5 years contract negotiation experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience sourcing complex goods and services
  • A demonstrated understanding of Hospitality FF&E procurement and project management
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, multi-task
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and nurture strong partnerships across different constituencies including internal stakeholders, suppliers and customers.
  • Possesses good written and oral communication skills
  • Strong PC Skills (MS Office)
  • Excellent leadership, problem solving, project management and presentation skills
  • Preferred - experience with E-Procurement applications such as Birchstreet and Bidding Applications( RFP, Reverse Auctions) such as Ariba or GeP

General Requirements

  • Working knowledge of strategic sourcing process and procedures
  • FF&E market awareness and industry trends (opportunities, competition, long-range forecasts)
  • Understanding of legal requirements (restrictions, guidelines, general laws and regulations, tariffs, contracts, and directives)
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing sources/costs (materials, commodities, labor, facilities, special technologies, manufacturing processes and services)
  • Financial analysis and assessment (on capital, service,profits, growth rates, assets)
  • Understanding of product development, processes, and related functions (Purchasing, Marketing, and Distribution)
  • Understanding of general auditing procedures/guidelines
  • Knowledge and understanding of systems technology related to sourcing, procurement, B2B, and electronic commerce
  • Collaborate with internal departments to identify organizational needs and build those into business action items
  • Passionate customer service and support
  • Ability to travel between 60%-70% of the time, which includes domestic and possibly international travel.

Fundamental Requirements

Franchisee Support:

  • Ensure effective delivery and quality of services to our franchisees
  • Develop contracts and negotiate favorable agreements to minimize costs to Franchisees
  • Leverage North America and other global supplier contracts to identify additional opportunities for cost savings
  • Actively communicate with franchisees to understand their FF&E purchasing decisions, and implement initiatives that result in increased use of preferred vendors
  • Monitor and analyze engagement of franchisees with our preferred vendors to actively work to increase purchasing volumes
  • Identify and leverage WHR global and regional synergies to negotiate additional supplier deals
  • Monitor, manage, analyze and improve franchisee service and satisfaction
  • Continuously strive to find new innovative ways to deliver cost savings to our franchisees

Internal Stakeholder and Brand Support:

  • Key internal clients include Brand Operations, Hotel Integration, Design & Construction, Brand Standards, Franchise Operations amongst others; work with internal customers to support efforts to achieve Wyndham business objective
  • Collaboration with the Design and Construction team to ensure designs are feasible and affordable to franchisees
  • Set business plan objectives by category and measure performance against those objectives

Fundamental Requirements Con't

  • Manage FF&E program support for franchisee compliance to brand standards, program participation and effectiveness
  • Develop strategies for risk mitigation, business continuity, cost management, and operations improvement.
  • Support the development of hotel online purchasing availability and functionality

Manage Vendor relationships

  • Strategically identify and source new FF&E partners to further support long term goals and objectives, and to ensure that the most cost effective products and services are available
  • Work with vendors to develop and manage franchisee purchase reporting
  • PSP effectiveness reviews and service delivery improvement
  • Analyze and report on franchisee engagement and purchases with vendors to identify areas of opportunity
  • Work with Sourcing Marketing to develop collateral and programs to promote WHR supplier deals, internally and externally
  • Monitor the performance of suppliers against contractual standards and collaborates to achieve continuous improvements in costs and performance
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to leverage North America contracts to support other WHR regional sourcing teams.
