Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking a VP, Data Delivery to join our team at the Parsippany - 14 Sylvan Way location in ParsippanyNew Jersey.

Job Summary

The Data Delivery Team is responsible for partnering with the technology and business teams to source, cleanse, and deliver data throughout the organization.   There are two primary functions of the team. a) Create and maintain a data warehouse to provide analytic information to the business and b) Provide integration services for Wyndham’s primarily cloud based systems as required.  The role will work closely in a matrixed environment with every function in Information Technology and across the business to utilize data to support business initiatives, priorities and objectives. For all things data, this role will be the voice of the business into IT while being the IT’s guardian and champion back out to the business units.

In addition this individual will actively participate in a consultative role with other product / services owners as the data subject matter expert.  The individual will be the data team liaison working collaboratively with various internal departments for project planning, strategic guidance, data implications and on-going changes. The individual should find every opportunity to create new and innovative solutions to data and information needs by staying abreast of industry trends and vendor technology enhancements to capitalize on new revenue opportunities and/or operational efficiencies. 

The role required to provide highly effective leadership to the data team to ensure timely and effective delivery of critical technology programs, initiatives and business solutions, while creating a positive culture and high employee engagement and trust. The successful candidate will be required to balance strategic leadership with a hands-on approach to operational and financial management.


#     Responsibility

1. Work with the business & IT teams to define a comprehensive Data Management Strategy aligned with business objectives encompassing existing data collection, storage, integration, quality access and utilization
2. Collaborate with IT leaders to implement and manage data strategy components
a. Identify opportunities for improvement in data services and solution approaches
b. Translate business data needs into IT plans as appropriate
c. Establish and implement additional end-user access policies and procedures in accordance with company and international data security and privacy rules
d. Coordinate activities and timelines with PMO
e. Participate in IT project planning, prioritization efforts, budget discussions, peer reviews, architecture and integration as the data utilization SME
f. Work with the IT support and infrastructure teams to maintain commercially appropriate production support and monitoring for data and data quality
3. Collaborate with the InfoSec team to ensure data eco-system(s) meet company and international data security and privacy rules
4. Collaborate with external partners and vendors on data structure, quality, integration and availability
5. Provide insight on hospitality technology advancements and competitor landscape
6. Lead the data / integration requirements for mergers and acquisitions as they occur during the course of our business
7. Foster relationships with business leads to understand current and shifting business priorities and issues
a. Be an evangelist for data. WHG IT has an opportunity to envision, deliver, and support data solutions in a business aligned and nimble way.
b. Partner with the business on data governance, stewardship and enterprise priorities
c. Help develop use cases that support data and information needs
d. Jointly drive the data roadmap and funding requests
e. Coordinate project and data priorities and needs back into the IT team


 

Scope

• Talent - The role will be responsible for ensuring top talent in the team of direct reports, as well as provide guidance regarding employees reporting to the direct reports.  Included in this talent management responsibility are goal and performance management, leadership and associate development and succession planning, compensation management and overall employee engagement and trust.
• Financial - The role is responsible for delivering to budgets and deadlines relating to IT people, projects and performance of all data technology and related functions of the organization, including delivery within established corporate guidelines.
• Operations – The role is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the data warehouse, establishing the strategy for data delivery in the organization, delivering yearly roadmaps, working with the PMO on status reports, and providing hands on decision making guidance to the team.
• Loyalty Systems – The role (may) be responsible for Loyalty systems, depending on the background of the individual and his/her ability to take on additional scope.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or graduate degree (preferred)
• Minimum of fifteen years experience, including proven success at VP level in a fast-paced, consumer-focused environment. 
• The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership skills with a proven understanding of the impact of applying high levels of emotional intelligence to positively impact team performance.
• Proven success in delivering large scale projects on scope, on time and on budget.
• The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong business and commercial focus with the ability to align technology strategy and execution to the overall business strategy and objectives.
• The position requires executive presence, with excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels, as well as experience with significant change management initiatives.
• Experience working in a matrixed environment and effectively partnering with multiple stakeholders.
• The individual should demonstrate initiative, exercise good judgment and be confident with decision making.
• Proven success in contracting, negotiating, organization development/change management, financing, accounting, strategic planning, and action planning. 
 

Complexity

a) Level of decision making authority
• The role has a high level of decision making responsibility and autonomy, although it is expected this will be in a highly collaborative manner to ensure alignment and synergy with Wyndham Worldwide and associated other business units.

b) Supervisory responsibility:
• Three Directors,  shared Executive Assistant
• Approximately 30 employees

 

Organizational Relationships
 
This position is a member of the WHG  IT senior Leadership Team (IT SLT) and as such, is expected to be a strategic business partner through understanding key business drivers and building effective relationships with peers and their teams.
