The Role

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the accurate and timely performance of various assigned functions in support of the month-end close and statutory reporting process. Specifically, the Accounting Manager will oversee various close related functions, ensuring proper accounting treatment of transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Responsibilities will primarily include overseeing the WHR accounts receivable and bad debt processes, including the preparation and analysis of journal entries, reporting, and ad hoc requests. Further, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for ongoing application of the Current Expected Credit Losses (“CECL”) accounting standard update and compiling monthly AR reporting to upper management. Other responsibilities will include managing delinquent sites for deferral of revenue recognition, recording monthly journal entries, preparing and / or reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations, performing analytical reviews and variance analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness of month end reporting and supporting the quarterly reporting and audit cycles by preparing reporting schedules and assisting with external audit requests.  The Accounting Manager will be responsible for identifying and resolving financial issues and communicating such issues to senior finance management on a timely basis. Finally, the Accounting Manager will assist with miscellaneous projects throughout the year including streamlining various accounting processes, technical accounting research and any other projects that may arise.

What you'll do

  • Manage various aspects of the monthly close process, including the preparation and / or review of journal entries for high-risk areas, preparing and / or reviewing balance sheet accounting reconciliations, performing analytical reviews and variance analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness of month end reporting, and supporting the quarterly reporting and audit cycles by preparing reporting schedules and assisting with external audit requests.
  • Oversee WHR’s bad debt expense and accounts receivable reserve processes, including the preparation and analysis of journal entries, monthly reporting to senior management, monitoring of non-paying sites for potential revenue deferral and other ad hoc requests.  
  • Support WHR’s international statutory audit process by creating supporting schedules and footnote support and assisting with external audit requests.
  • Prepare and/or review quarterly tax requests and ad hoc tax requests.
  • Assist with financial projects and initiatives throughout the year including technical accounting research. 
  • Identify other opportunities to streamline accounting data and processes and work cross functionally to design and implement changes while enhancing desk procedures.
     

You'll be successful if you have

  • Strong technical accounting and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of practices and concepts associated with GAAP.
  • Strong PC skills, including Excel, Oracle and Hyperion (HFM).
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to interact with all levels of the organization and external contacts.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated and able to work on cross functional teams.
  • Innovative team player that challenges current processes.

Required Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Big 4 or large regional public accounting experience preferred.
