Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking a Corporate Accounting Manager to join our team at the Parsippany - 22 Sylvan Way location in ParsippanyNew Jersey.

Job Summary

The Manager of Corporate Accounting manages the day-to-day operations of the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Corporate Accounting team. This entails managing the daily work activities of accounting personnel, reviewing work product on a regular basis and providing technical and professional development to the general ledger accounting team. Functions include oversight of the monthly accrual and financial review process, oversight of corporate/BU payroll accounting, and documentation around accounting’s internal process flows and policies in accordance with SOX guidelines.

  • Management of the monthly financial close process. Includes working closely with functional managers, directors and VPs to ensure that expenses and allocations are properly recorded and monthly income statements are reviewed, understood and approved timely.
  • Assist in the quarterly external reporting process by preparing schedules for quarterly and annual filings to the SEC, providing support to external auditors, assisting in updating quarterly reporting packages and various ad hoc requests.
  • Perform reviews of balance sheet analysis created by senior accountant to ensure that reconciling items are followed up on timely.  Support monthly balance sheet reviews with financial management explaining monthly changes while providing status of reconcilement issues.
  • Coach and mentor team members by providing regular feedback throughout the month.  Assist staff in career development to enhance their current skill set, develop technical competencies and improve the overall performance of the general ledger accounting team.
Scope & Complexities


The Corporate Accouting Manager is responsible for ensuring the financial statements of WH&R are prepared in accordance with GAAP and there is a significant dependency on this person’s ability to properly apply proper accounting treatment for many transactions.  Due to the volume of transaction this person is responsible for overseeing (cash, payroll etc.), senior management relies on this person heavily to make solid and accurate decisions on the recording of transactions properly. This person has a high level of autonomy with respect to many account balances within the financial statements, with a high emphasis on cash, intercompany and payroll.  This position also deals with sensitive and confidential financial data on a routine basis and requires a high level of integrity to keep such information confidential. This position supervises one direct report but also is viewed as a person that will routinely be expected to provide guidance to other staff accountants within the WHR Franchise accounting team whenever necessary.


Scope/Financial Responsibility:
The Corporate Accouting Manager is a critical position to support the monthly accounting close as well as the quarterly external reporting close process.  This position will also be working with extremely sensitive and confidential financial and personal data which requires a high degree of integrity.  Additionally, this associate is required to work a significant amount of overtime in support of not only monthly closes, but quarterly closes. This associaten will have significant exposure to Senior Financial Executives.


Abilities/Key Competencies/Skills:
The Corporate Accouting Manager is required to possess solid accounting skills and knowledge of US GAAP.  Additionally, since this position is unique in that is not only supports the monthly general accounting close, but also supports the external reporting group in the quarterly external close process of filing the 10-Q/K with the SEC.  Since this person will have significant exposure to Senior Management, excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

Experience & Education
  • Degree in accounting/finance, advanced knowledge of excel, with previous experience using Oracle, preferred.
  •  Should have at least 5 - 7 years experience working in a mix of public company accounting department with previous month end closing experience preferred.
  • Solid understanding of financial reporting concepts and US GAAP.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
