Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team at the Parsippany - 22 Sylvan Way location in ParsippanyNew Jersey.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the daily and more complex general ledger accounting activities of over 275 La Quinta hotels. The right candidate will have an exceptional opportunity to help build and revitalize processes while working with the G/L Manager and their Team to recommend and implement change as needed.



  • Reconciliation and analysis of various balance sheet accounts, variance analysis, investigation of operating P&L accounts, and preparing monthly journal entries.
  • Preparation of quarterly and year-end audit work papers and assist with annual audit work.
  • Work in coordination with areas outside of Accounting to facilitate the flow of information and process efficiencies, as well as other departments to resolve accounting issues and improve the timing of reports and close.
  • Maintained accounting process and control procedures in accordance with GAAP & SOX

• Ability to focus on day to day activities including time sensitive reconciliations
• This role involves limited responsibility for the direction of others - may include training new employees
• Ability to identify and promote opportunities to improve work processes as the day to day work is done
• Demonstrates positive attitude and promotes a respectful workplace.
• Makes analytical decisions; supervision is present to establish and review broad objectives relative to basic position duties or divisional responsibilities.
• Independent judgment is required to study previously established, often partially relevant guidelines, the offer solutions if relevant
• Plan for various ad-hoc activities; and coordinate such activities within a work unit /division or while completing a project.
• May serve as a lead project team member reviewing and approving the work of others. 
• Work is typical in nature with some situations requiring new solutions.
• Work consists of mainly of routine tasks, processes, or operations; however often non routine requests are needed.  
• Makes routine decisions; work may occasionally involve non-standard assignments and the methodology may require some research with limited detail by the immediate supervisor.
• Responds to and handles unfamiliar situations with limited supervisory guidance. Not afraid to ask questions
• Has knowledge of office or operational procedures.  .
• Work tasks generally follow the same order and require little interpretation. 
• Problem solver through research and discussions with the supervisor or other department personnel as needed.
• Applies established or new technology solutions to enhance individual or small work group efficiency and effectiveness.
• Requires regular contact within and outside the department with other departments, supplying or seeking information on non-specialized matters.
• Must respond to multiple task interruptions and still provide service to internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree required with a major in Accounting or related field.
• CPA or candidate

• 4-7 years relevant experience
