Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking a Senior Auditor to join our team at the Parsippany - 22 Sylvan Way location in ParsippanyNew Jersey.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Audit Services, the Senior Auditor will be responsible for executing audit and review procedures throughout high-risk operational areas of the business, including but not limited to operational audits, hotel property audits, ethics hotline investigations and policy compliance reviews.   It will be critical that the Senior Auditor gains an understanding of the company’s business processes, risks, and internal controls to evaluate their effectiveness and draft initial conclusions of findings and recommendations to be implemented to improve the company’s internal control environment.  The Senior Auditor will be responsible to document test work and results in audit work papers, communicate and summarize them for Audit Services management.  The Senior Auditor will be expected to address comments and concerns from Audit Services management as appropriate.

Essential Job Functions

  • Execute audit and review engagements as mitigation strategies to risks identified by Audit Services’ risk assessments or shared by management:
    • Perform governance / compliance / audit engagements, including the overall engagement organization and management of internal and/or external resources.
    • Execute engagements based upon existing work programs.  Provide input for the development of new work programs as required and provide feedback on the improvement of current work programs.
    • Formulate recommendations to improve operating processes and other value adding opportunities, as appropriate.
    • Partner with business process/regional lead to follow up on outstanding management action plans within an agreed timetable and ensure that all issues are closed in a timely fashion.
  • Manage tracking of completion of Management Action Plans and Reporting to Audit Committee:
    • Obtain an understanding of all outstanding Management Action Plan (MAPs).
    • At minimum, obtain progress reports of all outstanding MAPs on a quarterly basis.
    • Review support obtained to ensure MAP was properly closed.
    • Prepare communication to the Board of Directors on status of the MAPs.
  • Execute and support process improvement initiatives as assigned to provide value-add services to the business and Audit Services Team.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks including but not limited to:
    • Assisting in testwork for Integrity hotline investigations.
    • Assisting management in the prepwork for risk assessments.
    • Assisting other audit department testing on an as needed basis.
  • Manage Audit Board software for the Audit Services – Operations team. 
    • Providing access and training to first time users and users that are not familiar with the Audit Board software. 
    • Manage Audit Board audit functions and update accordingly.  For example, updating MAPs and issues according to responses from the process owners.

Travel Requirements

The position may require up to 10% domestic and international travel periodically throughout the year.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA, CPA or CIA preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a similar internal or external audit role.
  • Hospitality industry work experience preferred.
  • A strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, financial processes, and systems.  
  • A proven track record in leading and completing audit and process evaluation projects.
  • Working knowledge of relevant data analytics tools such as ACL / Tableau a plus.
  • Working knowledge of relevant auditing tools is desirable.
  • Team player with a positive “can do” attitude, willingness to learn new concepts in a fast-paced environment, be a self-starter, and accept responsibility to meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and customer service skills.

Complexity

The Senior Auditor position will require the ability to work in a dynamic business and financial environment.  The individual will have to use multitasking skills to work on various collaborative assignments and autonomous audit projects, depending on the Audit Services project plan.  The position currently has no supervisory responsibilities; however, it is highly concentrated on working with several key internal and external parties which will have to be managed in order to timely and effectively finalize and report on the audit findings.  In addition, the Senior Auditor may be asked to help the manager train and assist newer team members/consultants/interns.
