Reporting directly to the CHRO, the Senior Director of Social Responsibility is responsible for leading the strategic direction and implementation of the Social Responsibility approach and framework.

In addition to helping us to advance our values-driven culture, this Senior Director role should have a demonstrated track record for leading SR, including Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Human Rights, Philanthropic programs while creating solid partnerships within the business internally and externally.  

  • Enhance business strategies and deliver results by creating shared value in our culture and team members and the communities where we operate and live.
  • Implement a holistic approach to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Human Rights, and Philanthropy in our workplace and communities.
  • Recommend advocacy, policy changes, and partnerships that enable WH&R to be a leader in Social Responsibility.
  • Educate and engage team members and franchisees in our SR activities.
  • Measure, communicate, and report our results.

What you'll do

  • Develop and influence the global strategy for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Human Rights, and Philanthropy by providing leadership and guidance across the senior leadership team, HRSLT business partners, the Social Responsibility Council, Affinity Business Groups, team members, our owners,  external business partners, and key resources that create long-term shareholder value by embracing opportunities and managing risks.
  • Develop, manage, and report on all key metrics (i.e., KPI, etc.) related to DEI, HR, and Philanthropy.
  • Execute a vision for DE&I that values each individual's experience and contributions, attracts, and retains the best talent, enhances our culture as a great place to work, contributes to the communities we work and live in and delivers outstanding value to our shareholders. 
  • Develop positive relationships and lead through influence with internal and external partners, build consensus and prioritize action and results, including Emergency Assistance Foundation, ITP, Versaic, Your Cause, etc. 
  • Ensure Wyndham's commitment to Human Rights by leveraging vital external partners (i.e., ECPAT, BEST, and Polaris), providing education awareness, and ensuring proper legal requirements.
  • Provide strategic direction and inspiration for team member engagement globally, including Associate Relief Fund and Immediate Response, giving through match and payroll, volunteerism, and support of various outreach programs necessary from time to time.
  • Work closely with senior leaders and associates across Wyndham to ensure that SR is integrated and aligned with the business objectives.  When appropriate, identify and develop opportunities for executive participation in key external charitable activities. 
  • Ensure proper SR Reporting, ongoing legislation, and survey completion, engaging team appropriately, including Dow Jones, SR Report, Ethisphere, Diversity Inc., HACR, etc.
  • Stay abreast of, educate and communicate trends and developments in the SR and Diversity & Inclusion arena.
  • Guide coordinator in management of Board of Directors Charitable Donation program, ensuring accuracy and diplomacy.
  • Responsible for the strategic leadership of the Wyndham Championship charity program, including events, golf task force, and charitable activities (i.e., Birdies for Backpacks).
  • Work across Wyndham to identify and partner on strategic initiatives, including customer/consumer spending patterns, "share of wallet" opportunities, product/marketing development, franchisee/affiliate development, and supplier diversity. 
  • Provide direction to the manager of DE&I and the talent acquisition team on identifying and developing targeted recruitment activities in support of our strategic goals.  Coordinate with the global staffing team, engaging local and other national/international associations.
  • Lead and nurture the development of their team, including the Manager of Diversity & Inclusion and SR specialist.
  • Represent Wyndham on task forces, committee meetings, and public appearances inside and outside the company related to SR.
  • Additional ad hoc projects as required.

You'll be successful if you have

 

  • Ability to influence through relationships with peer's senior management in all lines of business.
  • Experience developing, marketing, and communicating programs to generate customer and team members' interest and participation.
  • Passion for engaging and developing associates and demonstrated appreciation for SR in the workplace.
  • Strong interpersonal, public speaking, negotiation, oral and written communication skills, and ability to gain the trust and support of key diverse external constituencies. 
     

Required Qualifications/Experience

  • 8-12 years of SR experience, including Diversity & Inclusion, Human Rights, and Philanthropy.
  • Undergraduate degree, Graduate degree preferred.
