Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking a Senior Manager of Workers' Compensation Claims to join our team at the Parsippany - 22 Sylvan Way location in ParsippanyNew Jersey.

Job Summary

 

The Senior Manager, Workers’ Compensation Claims is responsible for planning, organizing, administering and supervising the company’s Workers’ Compensation claims program.  Responsibilities include the review of Workers’ Compensation injury claims, management oversight of the Third Party Claims Administrator (TPA) and concurrence on all State Workers’ Compensation Administrative Board or Commission hearings, settlement negotiations and case settlements.  Additional areas of responsibility include recommending loss mitigation strategies, ensuring program compliance with applicable laws and regulations, preparation of reports to management, and the monitoring and evaluating of the program’s activities to ensure effective and quality services. Lastly, this position will support and advise on other insurance claims.

 

Responsibilities

 

Program Management

  • Develop, recommend and implement Workers’ Compensation goals, policies and procedures
  • Main point of contact for Workers’ Compensation claims management questions and guidance
  • Oversee the external Workers’ Compensation TPA contractor claim handling process and quality
  • Lead WH&R’s Return to Work Program proactive initiatives. Direct transitional duty opportunities with Human Resources and General Managers after a lost time injury occurrence.
  • Supervise internal assigned staff including the selection, training, and evaluation of personnel.
  • Provide Regional Vice Presidents, General Managers and Human Resources training on Workers’ Compensation claim handling and reporting.

 

Claim Management

  • Assist in the control and/or mitigation of hazards through education of field personnel discovered during the daily claim management process.
  • Manage the overall organization’s timely reporting of First Report of Injury to insurance carrier. 
  • Evaluate subrogation potential on each claim report.
  • Appoint, direct and collaborate with external assigned legal counsel as appropriate.
  • Stay aware of trends and innovations in the field of Workers’ Compensation administration and keep current on notable legislative and regulatory issues at the State and Federal level.
  • Review and provide feedback to carriers on settlement/payment/denial of carrier-handled claims. Review and give feedback on carrier case reserves.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of claims handling philosophy, procedures and carrier Special Account Handling Bulletin and enforce TPA/Carrier compliance.

 

Claim Administration & Program Enhancement

  • Develop, implement, and monitor company-wide cost containment strategies to prevent and minimize losses.
  • Review, audit and process insurance claims invoice billings.
  • Collaborate with internal employment counsel and safety department where prudent.
  • Conduct periodic audits of Carrier/TPA Claim Agents to assess performance and effectiveness.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Ensure data integrity of related claims in the company’s RMIS and the insurers’ systems.

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8 years related work experience preferred
  • Ability to work under pressure; must possess good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have excellent leadership skills and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of insurance claim process, preferably Workers' Compensation claims preferred, but not required
