Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking a Sr. Analyst, Data Scientist to join our team at the Parsippany - 22 Sylvan Way location in ParsippanyNew Jersey.

Job Summary

The Sr. Analyst, Data Science will serve a critical role in helping the Wyndham Hotels and Resorts Audit Services Department, use data to drive high performance and quality, while mitigating against key fraud schemes.  This role will report to the Director of Audit Services. We are looking for a dedicated team player who shares our passion for data and process improvement to provide analytics support to our organization. This is a newer role and we are looking for someone to bring fresh ideas of how we can use data to drive our audits and continuous monitoring process.

The role will actively drive the integration of data analytics and associated data visualizations into Audit Services projects to deliver innovative, insightful, and repeatable analyses. The Sr. Analyst will be accountable to execute processes aimed at identifying fraud methodologies, points of compromise, root cause evaluation and associated observed volumes, financial and operational impacts with associated recommended remediation paths.   In addition, the Sr. Analyst will be expected to use advanced data modeling, predictive modeling and analytical techniques to analyze and interpret key finding from company data and leverage these insights into initiatives that will support optimal business outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, and an acute attention to detail. He or she will be able to work on multiple engagements simultaneously, while meeting all internal and external deadlines.

The Sr. Analyst will collaborate across business lines to collect, organize and analyze data from several source systems in an effort to develop dashboards and related reports. The goal is to create more compelling visuals that highlight impactful insights which are easier to action on for key stakeholders. This role requires a strong communicator that will act as the liaison between Audit Services, functional Operations teams, Legal, Cybersecurity and our third party vendors. This Data Scientist role must have the ability to presents and articulate data results of analyses to non-technical/non-statistical associates. 
 

Responsibilities

1    Identify, design and build operational and support metrics/benchmarks to validate current processes. The development of innovative data analytics and visualization tools will range from supporting the auditors in execution of their audits and other assurance work, to providing audit management with insightful dashboards and metrics. These dashboards will also incorporate benchmarks for fraud/abnormal activity. Specific audit examples include P-Card & T&E monitoring.        30%
2    Manage and execute all phases of the data lifecycle including issue identification, hypotheses formulation, data analysis and strategy implementation; performing statistical and financial analyses including working on process improvement projects; utilizing statistical analysis techniques including data transformation, and utilizing software tools including R, Python, SQL, MS Excel and other data modeling and data insight tools as required.    20%
3    Understand business controls, processes, and enterprise risks to ensure digital capabilities add value to Audit Services while also assisting with troubleshooting any data issues that may arise.    20%
4    Responsible for the timely investigation and resolution of escalated fraud incidents to safeguard company assets and customer data. Including assisting with the investigation, meeting with management and issuing a final report.    20%
5    Development and tracking of key performance indicators that will be critical in enhancing the understanding of the business to improve decision-making and execution.    10%

Scope/Financial Responsibility
1.    Responsible to assess current program and promotions rules and provide recommendations to minimize fraud risk and optimize revenue
2.    Responsible for ensuring all legitimate members’ stays and revenue related to Wyndham Rewards are accurately recognized and posted accurately and systematically.


 

Scope/Responsibilities

1.    Bachelor's Degree - Quantitative Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or similar discipline
2.    Demonstrated experience with sophisticated analytics tools and programming languages (e.g., IDEA SAS, SPSS, R, Python, SQL, HiveQL, Spark, Hadoop). 
3.    Experience in data analytics, data modeling and data sciences
4.    Experience creating data visualizations in Tableau, Looker, or other modern visualization tools such as Tableau, Kibana, Qlikview, PowerBI, or JavaScript is a plus
5.    Project management skills required with a proven track record of defining and executing key analyses with minimal supervision
6.    Ability to work with multiple sources of disparate data.
7.    Advanced technical Excel experience (pivot tables, Vlookup, VBA/Macros)
8.    Knowledge of data analytics tools and methodologies for identifying and reporting on trends
9.    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and other stakeholders
10.    Inquisitive nature, resourceful, and an ability to seek out information

Experience/Certificates/Education
1.    Bachelor's Degree - Quantitative Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or similar discipline
2.    2 – 5 years’ experience
