The Role

The RDFO optimizes owners’ performance by being proficient in people leadership, analytical thinking and administrative functions used to help manage a portfolio of hotels in their region. They promote a forward-thinking environment and lead a team that delivers innovative solutions and relevant resources using their experience and network across the organization. 

What you'll do

People Leadership

  • Coach to the expectations of the DFO role to ensure productivity against goals.  
  • Lead team of direct reports by engaging with them in person & virtually to connect them to the business, align them to the WHR goals, and motivate them to take ownership of key metrics that drive their region.  
  • Display a positive image and promote the value of WHR while displaying a sense of pride in the organization.
  • Accountable for leading teams in environments with increasing complexity and rapid change through planning, resourcefulness, and organizational ability.  
  • Evaluate, identify, and promote professional growth opportunities of their direct reports by utilizing WHR’s performance management platform and available development tools.
  • Model a culture of trust and collaboration with internal stakeholders, including direct reporting team, and external stakeholders to achieve performance goals of Wyndham’s strategic plan.
  • Empowered to make decisions that have a direct impact on the goals and operation of their region.
  • Effectively conduct crucial conversations to maintain value and trust with the team and owners.  
  • Lead, contribute, and liaise on WHR projects, initiatives, and tasks.  
  • Attract and retain new talent.  Ensure proper onboarding of new talent.  
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of the regional portfolio of properties, work with DFO to identify areas for improvement and work collaboratively with franchisees to implement necessary changes.
  • Manage the DFO utilization of all tools and resources to ensure franchisees take appropriate actions to cure non-compliance.
  • Uphold and ensure adoption to WHR brand standards, ensuring a consistent and exceptional guest experience across all franchised properties.

Analytical

  • Establish a clear regional plan that aligns with the district portfolio strategy and provide supervisory coaching, training, support, and accountability for direct reports.
  • Use analytical data to help navigate barriers/obstacles and assist the team through problem resolution.  Serve as next-level resolution for MFO/DFO making decisions.  
  • Develop and implement creative solutions that have a direct impact on their individual goals and operation of their portfolio.
  • Analyze hotel performance data and manage a regional portfolio strategy to achieve district goals.  
  • Identify, capitalize, and measure critical forward-thinking next steps for improvements in the region.  
  • Monitor and manage performance of large ownership and management company portfolios.
  • Develop personal relevant skillset & knowledge base of industry standards, trends, and practices. 

Administrative

  • Funnel requests from the business to the team to prioritize and execute initiatives/projects and tasks.
  • Document, follow up, and utilize system reporting to provide a comprehensive report out of the region’s performance and opportunities.  
  • Balance WHR, owner, and team needs by leveraging business acumen, critical thinking, and organizational management and advocate for all as needed.
  • Requires an average of 50% travel with a flexible work schedule.

  • Proven experience in improving hotel performance including but not limited to guest experience and revenue.
  • Proven experience building highly engaged and inspired remote teams.
  • Proven experience as a business consultant, franchise partner, multi-unit manager or equivalent.

Required Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field. MBA or equivalent is a plus. 
  • 6 to 8 years of evolving experience in a franchised hotel or a related field required, preferably, property and corporate management experience.
  • 4+ years of leading teams.
  • Prior experience of managing a multi-site operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (i.e., Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.)

Compensation & Benefits

For U.S. based positions only, the expected pay range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000 annually.

 

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts carefully considers a wide range of factors when determining compensation such as work location, background, experience, and performance. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

 

In addition to the base pay, this role is eligible to receive an incentive payment pursuant to the DFO Incentive Plan with a 20% annual target, subject to the terms of the Plan.
