Wyndham Grand is now seeking a Casino Controller to join our team at the Rio Mar Beach Grand Resort location in Rio GrandePuerto Rico.

Job Summary

Responsible for all financial matters, accounting controls, and procedures relating to Casino operations. Provide the Casino Director with data regarding company assets and P&L positions. Oversees the enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures and Internal Controls. Is responsible for the proper documentation of all casino receipts and disbursements, preparation of periodic financial information and governmental entities. Also, the Casino Controller will supervise Accounting personnel and review documentation of daily gaming reports.

Education & Experience

  • BA Finance or related field preferred
  • At least 3 years as Controller or four years as an Assistant Controller required, preferably with a gaming background
  • Must be able to effectively communicate (written and verbal) communicate with guests and employees
  • Bilingual required
  • Must be licensed by Puerto Rico Tourism Company
  • Knowledge of overall Casino operations, Casino law, regulations and regulatory apparatus and how it functions
  • Previous supervisory and leadership experience required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for applicable state.
  • Must be proficient in Windows, Company approved spreadsheets and word processing and in the operation of all hotel-specific systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Light work – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.
  • Flexible and long hours required.

  • Comply with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  •  Perform other duties as requested by management.

Fundamental Requirements

  • Must be able to work independently and exercise judgment to resolve personnel and production issues that arise during daily operations
  • Control and oversee the entire Casino financial operation to ensure compliance with the established accounting procedures, budget and corporate policies.
  • Produce all financial statements and quarterly reports in a timely manner.
  • Advise Casino management of financial position and assist in accounting and legal issues.
  • Ensure that the Casino operation is in compliance with all federal, state and local laws.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate and update internal control procedures.
  • Establish proper credit procedures in compliance with established company policies.
  • Maintain and control Casino cash flow and conduct assets analysis for the company accounts. Assist in preparation of annual budget.
  • Interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate and coach, counsel and discipline department staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and control Casino payroll, as well as insurance permits and licenses for the entire operation.
  • Safeguard all records.
  • Reconciliation of general ledger accounts related to Casino.
  • Periodically hold surprise counts of various Casino operating banks and funds.
  • Assist independent auditors as required
  • Investigate all material cash variances
  • Review returned checks and credit cards receipts
  • Periodically observe hard count, bill validator’s count and soft count
  • Review of CTR reports
