Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking a Engineering Manager to join our team at Esplendor by Wyndham Tulum Nook in TulumQuintana Roo.

Job Summary

The Engineering Manager will contribute to the performance of the hotel by assisting in managing the day to day operation of the department by providing necessary support, coordination and feedback at all times. He / She will execute maintenance related works and supervises the Engineering & Maintenance associates, provide quality service and guest satisfaction and safety.

It is not the intent of this job description to cover all aspects of the position but to highlight the most important areas of responsibility.


Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Maintenance Administration

  • Responsible for overall day to day operation, ensuring compliance with local regulations and company standards.
  • Inspects that working condition of the engineering systems and ensure that all standards are maintained.
  • Conducts routine inspection of the property and completing the check lists.
  • Flags any major problem/emergency such as emergencies, accidents, and relevant items to the General Manager.
  • Contributes to the hotel profitability, by ensuring the serviceability of the Engineering Department.
  • Participates and actively involves in energy conservation programs and cost effective maintenance works.
  • Educating and training all Engineering and general hotel staff in work safety standards, engineering standards, and provides technical information as required.
  • Monitors and ensures that guest complaints are attended as per standard time to make sure the guests are satisfied.
  • Supervises preventive maintenance and repairs conducted in the property.
  • Knowledgeable on hotel facilities and services to assist guests as appropriate.
  • Prepares and maintains schedules, logs, records and other documentation to ensure a smooth operations and minimize liabilities.
  • Prioritizes engineering service requests to ensure guest convenience and satisfaction.
  • Ensures that engineering and work areas are in order and clean condition.
  • Regularly examines, tests and maintains life safety systems to protect guests, employees and assets.
  • Plans, monitors and controls the department expenses.
  • Keeps a professional and positive attitude and actions when communicating with guests and associates at all time.
  • Reports any incident of guest dissatisfactions or unusual matters of significance to management so that corrective measures may be taken.
  • Performs special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Resolves operational problems in compliance with the hotel policies and procedures.


  • Maintaining a business environment based on the Code of Conduct and Company Vision.
  • Promotes teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with team.
  • Maintain and enhance the open door policy to all associates providing advice and guidance when needed in regards to their issues or concerns and/or grievances.
  • Leadership of direct reports of the Engineering & Maintenance.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources with the recruitment and selection process of the Engineering & Maintenance department. Conducts interviews for relevant roles in conjunction with HR. Timely runs performance management process, ensures associate development and motivation, and takes care of team member counselling or any disciplinary issues.
  • Conduct regular coaching sessions / 1:1s with direct reports.
  • Ensure that the department is fully compliant with Wyndham people processes and deadlines that govern all Wyndham properties.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with all mandatory training for the departments.
  • Controlling the absences and payroll in the department in conjunction with the HR Leader on property to ensure accuracy and raises any areas of concern.


Education & Experience
  • A minimum of 2 years in a similar position in a branded hotel.
  • Diploma in engineering field.
  • Any certificate in safety systems.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently supervise staffs.
  • Knowledge of engineering.
  • Attention to details.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills.
